It’s almost that time of year again: SXSW is about to grab Austin by the throat once more, with showcases being announced by festivals and organizations around the world – and M for Montreal and POP Montreal are soon about to hit the festival with some 514 flavour.

As part of their 16th anniversary as a festival, POP Montreal will be hosting a showcase known as the #SWEET16 party at Swan Dive on March 17 featuring six Quebec-based artists, starting with electronic acts Best Fern and Forever, then followed by Hoan, She-Devils, Samito, and then closing it all off with Montreal “thrash pop” act CO/NTRY.

M for Montreal, on the other hand, will be having their own showcase on Swan Dive’s patio, with the bill topped by the boundlessly energetic Busty and the Bass and filled out by fellow Montreal scene mainstays Heat, KROY, Duchess Says, We Are Wolves and I.D.A.L.G. for an evening where a bunch of Montrealers will be doing their part to keep Austin weird.

POP and M will be bringing more than just the music from Montreal to this year’s festival, as Swan Dive will also be hosting their poutine and cocktail party earlier that night in collaboration with Quebec Creates, with Mozart’s Sister and RYAN Playground playing DJ sets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. – just one of many great networking opportunities at SXSW.

SXSW (South by Southwest) 2017 will take place from March 10 to 19 in venues across Austin, TX. Click here for info on how to obtain badges for this year’s festival, and stay tuned for more SXSW coverage from Shoeclack this year.
